Lessons

The lessons are the heartbeat of the studio. Designed to integrate an education in music with the study of the violin an instrument whose pitch and tone, like that of the human voice, is entirely commanded by the instrumentalist or with the lever harp whose arrangement of strings and pitch-bending levers is conducive to quick comprehension of some of the more complex principals of music theory the Harmony House curriculum teaches a complete linguistic system, opening doors to new means of communication and expression. The studio setting of one-on-one lessons and small-group classes allows students to progress at individual paces, and the diverse array of subjects studied and projects completed ensure a learning experience that is both enjoyable and meaningful.

The details

Instrumental lessons are offered on the violin and lever harp. General music lessons are offered for those who are not interested in performance, but wish to gain or supplement musical knowledge.

Lessons are scheduled for an hour or for half an hour.

The rate for private lessons is $60 an hour, $30 a half-hour. Group lessons of up to five students may be formed, in which case the rate per student is more economical. In addition, there are discounts for siblings within a group.

Monthly payment is expected before the first of the month (for example: payment for the month of April may be made at the last lesson in March.) Any cancellations within the month are not refunded, but make-up lessons are offered.

The Supplies

TO BEGIN WITH
While it seems fair to save money at the beginning before deciding whether or not the study of the violin or harp is going to be life-long, purchasing a cheap instrument can be detrimental to the learning process. Listed here are trusted sources; if you do not already own one, it is strongly suggested that you acquire an instrument from any of the following.
