Ensemble Days
There are ten Ensemble Days over the course of the academic year: four in the first semester, and six in the second semester. The entire student body is divided into three ensembles: POCO - for the beginners, coached by advanced students; MEZZO - for the intermediate students, coached by me; and GRANDE - for the advanced students, also coached by me.
During the first semester, each ensemble studies three Christmas-themed pieces of music. The ensembles presents these pieces at the December Ensemble Day during a gathering at the same location where we practice.
During the second semester each ensemble studies four new pieces of music. Towards the end of the year, the ensembles vote on which of these pieces they will perform at the annual recital.

Please note that, when listening to “Star in the East” tracks: any part not played by you will be represented by the sound of an alto flute. This will help you to count through the multi-measure rests while listening to the music that will be played by someone else.
