Ensemble Days

There are ten Ensemble Days over the course of the academic year: four in the first semester, and six in the second semester. The entire student body is divided into three ensembles: POCO - for the beginners, coached by advanced students; MEZZO - for the intermediate students, coached by me; and GRANDE - for the advanced students, also coached by me.

During the first semester, each ensemble studies three Christmas-themed pieces of music. The ensembles presents these pieces at the December Ensemble Day during a gathering at the same location where we practice.

During the second semester each ensemble studies three new pieces of music. Again, there is a presentation of these pieces at the April Ensemble Day. We work on other materials in May and June, and the ensembles vote on which of the three pieces performed in April will go on to be performed at the annual recital in June.
